I understand she was in love with someone else but it was pretty cold hearted of her to leave her babies behind for a man. :c I know how it feels first hand for a parent to do that to you and it's absolutely horrible; especially if it's both parents who ditch their kids for other people.
Although at least the boys' father was a good man so they had someone to depend on. Thankfully.
she probably thought what she was doing would be the best for the kids too... though i can't say it's worse than not having her there at all, having a parent that's seriously unhappy casts a pall over an entire household, kids tend to be sensitive to that kind of thing, it could've caused some serious damage.
I know people are calling her out for leaving her child behind, but she was leaving one of the heirs of a kingdom behind.
One, she's leaving the child to be raised in luxury without want, more or less. Except for a mother, but even then in royalty children are very rarely raised by their parents as it is.
And two, if she did leave, the Kingdom could go after her for kidnapping. It may be her own child, but the child is also an heir to the kingdom. Politics. In the end, I think she made the right choice.
Not necessarily the happiest choice--that'd to have stayed behind or talked it out with someone, but definitely one that'll allow for a good well-being for her child.
It must been hard for that woman to leave her babies behind. She gave up so much just to take that position. First off she left her family, friends (lover), her home land for a man she really never loved. She was probably very lonely and isolated, maybe she never got along with the in-laws because she wasn't his first wife and they weren't as accepting. This obviously wasn't the fairy tail life she had in mind, but i agree if she had taken her children there would have been a war.
While she made a choice that didn't please anybody and made her appear selfish, there were circumstances that didn't give much hope to this relationship.
The King just lost his wife; weeks later he finds another woman and marries shortly after. War is over, which signifies a new beginning. What better way to show a new beginning than marriage.
Yes, she left her children behind, but like others, I believe she thought it was for the best. If she were to take them, it could have caused serious problems.
From what I have gathered, this was a political as well as a rebound relationship.
